Missing Classmates

ITS OVER! The 45th reunion for the Tulsa Central High School Class of 1955 (year 2000) is now history! If you didn't make it, you missed a good time!

A golf tournament kicked off the Friday activities. Thirty two classmates were competing on the Battle Creek Golf Course exhibiting their golfing expertise. The tournament was a HUGE success.

The delicious aroma of an excellent Italian buffet filled the ballroom on Friday night with approximately two hundred classmates in attendance. Excitement was in the air as classmates reminisced old times, danced to Dick McGuire's Karaoke music, and the beautiful voice of Lisa Cole, with some displaying their singing (???) talents.

Saturday began with lunch at Nelson's Buffeteria, where the "world's best fried chicken steak" was served and continued with a trip to the "new" Central High School. Memories flooded back as we traveled the "Hall of Fame" to view all the mementos of past years, stroked the nose of The Great Spirit, walked down the Walk of Fame where each decade of Central High School graduates are on bronze plaques, with the first graduating class being 1903.

A performance of the traditional "Central Daze" was a real treat. We were entertained by the outlandish antics of Modell Phipps (aka Lee Gideon - Class of '56), ballroom dancers - John and Marilyn Cox, The Happy Hoofers, and a song, "Those Were The Days", sang by Johnnie Cherblanc and Janet Bettis Holyfield (accompanied by Janet on the piano).

Saturday night the ballroom was again filled with approximately 170 classmates. A delicious steak dinner was served and a "live" band provided the music for dancing. Trophies were awarded the winners of the golf tournament with Marilyn Seay Dawson and Ann Jumper winning the ladies competition and Joe Quarterman and Bob Woods winning the men's competition. Another highlight of the evening was the raffling of a red and white quilt depicting high school memories, our School Song, and classmates' signatures. The quilt was handcrafted by Patsy Pitts Tucker. The lucky winner of this beautiful quilt was Carla Young Rainey.

A hospitality room was open the entire weekend for coffee, snacks, soft drinks, other beverages of choice, renewing old friendships and making new ones.

Red or white T- Shirts were sold with Tulsa Central High School embroidered on them. You may purchase one of these shirts while the supply lasts. A video of the reunion activities, a photograph of those attending Friday evening, and a yearbook published for this reunion are all available. You may use the website to order these items.

Our thanks and appreciation goes to all the committies that made this reunion a success.

We sincerely hope that you plan to be at our next reunion, the BIG 5-0 in 0-0-FIVE!
